We had a blinding reserve team guys like Dale Banton, George Cowie, Scottie Houton, Phil Brignall who barely had a look at the first team. Then Paul Allen, Alan Dickens ect in the youth team. 79-80 and 80-81 two of my favourite seasons of all time

Only 1 You put me in mind of the 1980 final. About a dozen of us including one Arsenal fan traveled to Wembley from Worcester. The only one without a ticket was a guy born near Upton park,, who was studying for a teacher training degree. We advised him to go to the police station at Wembley to get a ticket. On the train on the way back he told us that he did this and was given a ticket.

Chiff.
Bunch of lads bought tickets on the Friday night from a bloke in a pub in Salmons Lane (Limehouse). They got to Wembley only to be told they'd bought a handful of forgeries, silly bastards.

The St Valentines day massacre 3 days after the Coventry game Chelsea played us Upton Park which was heaving an hour before kick off. Sir Trev scored 2 that day in a 4-0 win one a superb chip over Peter Borata (RIP) and he even applauded the great man.
Happy days!

I too went to the LC at Wembley and then at Villa Park. My dad got the Wembley tickets from Kevin Sheedy (my dad new Kevin and his parents). We were seated with Liverpool royalty. When the equaliser went in, I think with four minutes left my dad (a Coventry fan) and I were up dancing. All around us was silence, amazingly we didn't receive any illfeeling. At the replay again we were with Liverpool supporters singing bubbles at the top of our voices until we were escorted to the Holt end. Met John Lyle on the way round. Happy days.

No I didn't read back. Is it a crime now? In any case the the thread is about personal memories and events of that year, am I not allowed to have the same memories as someone' else?

“Tainted Love" is a song composed by Ed Cobb, formerly of American group the Four Preps, which was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964. A Northern Soul classic.

The 1980-81 team has to be my favourite of all time.
That was a fantastic season, records broken, fantastic football and we would have won the League cup that year had it been any other team than Liverpool.
Those were the days!
